Test Report
Powerful, very stable and good on banks, the MC35 compact reverse-gear unit is hydrostatically driven.
It has a good lift capacity and is capable of carrying a variety of out-front decks, including flails, and other attachments such as snow blowers. But above all, this is a serious contractors’ machine for parks, highways and large areas of grass. In this test we matched it to a Teagle finishing mower. PTO speed is 2,200rpm.
The MC35 is a comfortable machine — the steering column moves forwards so there is plenty of room for long legs. Controls are simple. Like all New Holland machines, this one features colour coding — so everything connected with movement is coloured orange and all hydraulic controls are black. PTO engagement is yellow. There is a single two-stage pedal for forward and reverse.
A one-piece hood gives easy access to the Shibaura engine. All filters are close together. “It’s incredibly simple for in-house technicians. Most servicing points will be dealt with in under 15 minutes,” says Tangye.
The 1.5m Teagle features an easy-to-adjust cutting height from 100mm down to 25mm using front spindles and spacers. Strength is built into the deck and we get the impression it can cope with the bumps and bashes of contracting work. Contactors will also like the road speed of the MC35 at just under 32km/h.
